Marketing you say?

 

If you want your window cleaning business (or any business) to be successful you have to generate leads, convert them to sales and then bank the profit. Over simplified I know, but the first secret is the 60/40 rule.

 

Growing your business should take up 60% of your time which leaves 40% to do the work.

 

The vast majority of window cleaners work 3 – 4 days a week till 1pm. Then have a considerable amount of leisure time. This is a great way of life and to most ideal. Though, if you’re like me, a greedy so and so and would rather make lots of money leaving your weekends FREE, read on.

 

You have to market your business when you’re not actually out cleaning. This little nugget will be explained in more detail in “Marketing” section of this eBook in Chapter 7.

 

The title may be a little confusing, but I actually came from the lettings/property management industry in which I worked for myself for 5 years. Those were 5 great years; I built the business up and sold it in May 2007.

 

Believe me when I say I’m not an expert window cleaner. In fact you could probably call me pretty average. However, average window cleaners earn a lot of money. I want to make silly amounts in the least possible amount of time.

 

Even though I was making good money as a letting agent, I was working all the hours with no time for myself or most importantly the family. (Sound familiar?).

 

Why write this eBook?

 

I wanted to share the experience and knowledge that I picked up in a very short space of time. I don’t mind revealing all of my secrets and methods to you since the probability of you window cleaning in my area is pretty slim. I also love to write.

 

You don’t even have to use any of the things I’m revealing here at all. One thing I do know. They’ve worked for me and I’m still benefiting from them month after month.

 

Wanting a fresh challenge and never doing any manual labour in my life, I thought trying my hand at window cleaning would be the ticket. Later in (Chapter 4) I’ll show you how I amassed a window cleaning round giving me an income in excess of £XX,000 a year within 8 weeks without any expensive advertising or prior knowledge of window cleaning. I’ll also show you how to increase your client base that will earn you extra money on top of that £xx,000. To be honest, if I can do it, anyone can!

 

I use the value of £XX,000 loosely. If you put even more time in it than I did, you could probably blitz that figure within an 8 week period. To be honest, I hope you do!

 

You may be currently working in a job that you hate and want a complete career change like I did. You’re maybe out of work and want to earn some extra money, you may even love you current job but feel you’re working too many hours.

As long as there are windows, there will always be someone needed to clean them. In times of recession and downturn, several businesses like lingerie shops, gift shops, brand new motor car retailers to name but a few really feel the pinch. That’s because they are normally expensive items and you don’t need them. Window cleaning is not a necessity, though, it is also way down on the list of expense items to deduct each month. Hence, we’ll always be in business.

 

Naming Your Business

 

One of the first things you need to do is find a business name for your window cleaning business. This name must represent exactly what you do and be memorable. A lot of new business owners choose their name (i.e. John Smith Window Cleaning Services) which is absolutely fine. As long as it’s memorable and to the point.

 

Once you’ve chosen a name check with company house to find out if that name is still available at www.companieshouse.gov.uk. If it is available, make sure the domain name (website address) is also available too at   (I’ll explain why later).  If you’re based in the UK you’ll want the “.co.uk” as well as the “.com” domain names. Whichever country you live you’ll need the domain address that corresponds with your local area, i.e. Australia would be “.au”.

 

Click on the link below to find out if your domain name is still available. Domains get snapped up super fast, so if it is still available I’d purchase it straight away.

 

 

 

Once you’ve purchased your domain name it needs to be hosted.

 

What is hosting?

 

Once your website is completed the site must be placed on a web "Server" (a computer which is permanently connected to the Internet). This means that your site can be accessed anywhere around the world at any time.
